However, Luxembourg offers a most beautiful cityscape and it’s filled with a lot of surprises, especially for the budget conscious traveler, who doesn’t have much time to spare. It won’t take more than a day to do some remarkable things in Luxembourg.

Here are 5 things that you can do in Luxembourg in a single day:

1) STAY AT THE CENTRAL TRAIN STATION IN LUXEMBOURG CITY

Staying in a central neighborhood in Luxembourg City will allow you to walk to many of the attractions and monuments, which are all within close proximity to the center. Such attractions and monuments include the famous Place Guillaume , the Luxembourg City Hall , Maison de l’Europe (the House of Europe), Place de la République, the National Museum of Natural History, Bock Casemates Square, the Philharmonic Orchestra and the railway station.

The Central Train Station is also within walking distance from most hotels in Luxembourg City. It accommodates both national and international trains as well as lots of local bus stops.

2) VISIT THE GRAND DUCAL PALACE AND ITS GARDENS IN LUXEMBOURG CITY

Traveling within Luxembourg by bus is easy because the bus system is quite extensive; this means that you can easily get to most places within an hour or so. It is imperative for travelers to be aware of the best routes to get around the country so that they don’t waste much time.

In Luxembourg City, the city’s famous Grand Ducal Palace is located centrally and it’s a must-see! Its many beautiful gardens are also a perfect place to relax as it offers some of the best panoramic views in Luxembourg. The tranquil atmosphere of the palace grounds allow you to visit at your own pace and enjoy some quiet relaxation.

3) VISIT THE GRAND DUCHY OF LUXEMBOURG NATIONAL MUSEUM

This museum is located in the historic center of Luxembourg city at the Fish Market (Marché-aux-Poissons). Housed in an extensive late Gothic and Renaissance mansion, the museum has collections of Gallo-Roman art, coins, medieval sculpture, armour, and contemporary art, as well as a 25,000-volume library.

It may take some time to get to the museum, so it’s better for you to come early in the morning in order to avoid the crowds.

4) LUXEMBOURG CITY OLD TOWN

The entire Luxembourg, that is sandwiched between France, Germany and Belgium, is only 2,586 square kilometers – less than the size of Rhode Island! Although the Grand Duchy is small, it’s packed with beautiful and well-preserved medieval architecture.

And, the cobblestone streets and narrow alleys of this district are mostly pedestrian-only, and it’s an interesting place to visit.

5) PETRUSSE PARK IN THE ALZETTE VALLEY

The green parks of Pétrusse offer very nice walks, easy and very pleasant to stroll in. It’s the perfect place for you to relax and enjoy the tranquility of nature.

Most of Petrusse Park is located in a valley, which contains a very good public transport system. It’s easy to access and it offers great views of the city from higher ground.
